Let's talk about sugar.

When I was younger, I thought sugar was only used in beverages - coffees & teas.
However, as time passed by I realized sugar was added not only in beverages but also in many of the on shelf products.
( including canned food, instant meals, yoghurt drinks etc. Learn to read the ingredients, not all product are labelled honestly )

Then came another surprise, many people include sugar as an essential ingredient for a variety of cooking recipes. I am not talking about desserts, I'm talking about gravy, soups and curry.

A hint of sugar is okay.
A lot of sugar is poison.

Here are 6 of the health problems that may be trigger from consuming too much sugar :-

1) Weight gain ( Obesity )
~ Studies have shown, sugar is one of the major contributors to obesity.
~ Fructose is linked to increased hunger, thus the desire to eat more.

2) Diabetes ( High blood sugar )
~ Diabetes takes many years before symptoms are noticeable.
~ A high sugar diet leads to obesity and insulin resistance.
~ A high blood sugar reading indirectly tells us that the pancreas is not working as it should've been.
It's not only about sugar, our organs are deteriorating.
Medication is able to control our blood sugar reading, but only a change in diet and lifestyle helps our body to once again be healthy inside out, from top to bottom, physically and mentally.

3) Acne ( Pimples )
~ A spike in blood glucose and insulin level increases androgen secretion, oil production and causes inflammation.

4) Increased risk for heart disease and cancer

5) Increased risk for depression

6) Accelerate aging

Other possible complications including fatty liver, cellular aging and kidney disease.

To stop sugar intake, avoid sudden changes in your diet.
Take it slow, be gradual but consistent.

Firstly cut sugar from our recipes at home and find a natural source for substitute.
I don't recommend artificial sweeteners.
I believe natural source are always the best choice.
You can try any of these - organic raw can sugar ( the most similar taste to white sugar ) , molasses sugar , coconut sugar, monk fruit sugar ( zero calories ) or stevia.

All the best :)

Mak anak tigahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15312659192990792752noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2571484452635854048.post-68045810288544292192022-12-13T13:00:00.008+08:002023-06-21T01:49:49.626+08:00Silent but deadly - Constipation

Assalamualaikum :)
Finally! Making a comeback after many years of hiatus.

Recently, I found out that constipation is a common occurrence among many of us including children.
However it is rarely discussed or given the attention it deserves. Today, let's talk about this.

Left untreated, constipation could be the root cause of many diseases.

How? When our bowels are slow, it delays the elimination of stool/faeces ( poop ) - this may lead to accumulation of faeces in out colon. As time goes by, the faeces dump will only gets bigger ( unless the issue has been addressed and solved )

Imagine having a huge pile of poop in our colon, understand that it doesn't just lay there being innocent not releasing any substances - it is not innocent and it releases health threatening stuff back into our system.

Trapped faeces does release toxins, next it encourages the growth of bad bacteria in our colon and trigger inflammation. It does not end there, this is just the beginning to many more health related issues. What most people don't realize is, the toxins release by these trapped faces sometimes is absorbed back into our body system and causes chaos.

Here are some signs we are suffering from constipation :
1) Less bowel movement
2) Feeling of difficulty / painful in passing stool
3) Faeces are hard and nut-shaped ( The ideal stool is usually not in tiny hard lumps, not watery and easy to pass )
4) Bloating
5) Facial inflammation ( Pimples ) and skin itchiness

Complications from long term constipation :
i) Swollen veins in rectum ( hemorrhoids )
ii) Anal fissure
iii) Infection & inflammation in the colon from trapped stool - leads to release of gas/toxins which could travel into our bloodstream, one of the possible causes for headache, bloating and food intolerance.
iv) Diverticulitis
v) Damage to pelvic muscles - may cause urine to leak ( stress urinary incontinence )
vi) Causing unstable emotions & mental disturbance ( Connection of gut-brain axis )
vii) Our immune system depends on a healthy gastrointestinal to function well and stable,
not only keeping viruses at bay but also maintaining the well being of our whole bodily systems.

Pay attention to our body, once we realize our bowels are slowing down or our stools getting stubborn to be pushed out don't wait for things to get worse.
Our health is at risk!

+ Start with drinking more fluids ( best choice is plain water for healing purposes )
+ Cut white sugar & gluten from your diet
+ Manage your diet - more fruits, more veggies, less processed food, less synthetic produce.
+ Exercise. Try a minimum of 30 minutes brisk walk 3 times per week if you are unable to do this as a daily routine.
+ Take prebiotics & probiotics ( but make sure no sugar is added. Sugar is a murderer to our good bacteria - pointless to take probiotic that contains sugar.
The probiotics are probably lifeless )

Trust me - get rid of constipation and you will feel better not only physically but also mentally.
InshaAllah :)

Thank you for reading.

Mak anak tigahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15312659192990792752noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2571484452635854048.post-78911893303792658392014-02-10T07:50:00.003+08:002022-11-07T13:40:56.835+08:00Health benefits of drinking coffee

Assalamualaikum :) It's a great day , but it would've been better if we started the day off with a cup of coffee. Assalamualaikum :) I apologize for not being active with blogging lately. But i do still love to write,
when I have some bit of time I'll hook up in here..

Today , I'd like to share my very own experience with olive oil.
Olive oil is known for it's health boosting benefits, yes we all know but it's exciting when we experience it ourselves. Well at least I'm excited about it heh :)

The truth is, I've been using olive oil on various body parts. But I like to share about it one topic at a time :) inshaAllah easier for readers comprehension.

Most of us ladies, I assume have some sort of daily regime for facial care. As for me , I don't have any except for normal cleansing using facial cleanser. That is it. Seriously.
Recently a friend of mine recommended a night cream she is happy with (probably my face looks deprived of nutrition, ha..) , Okay so I thought why not just give it a try, I did have flaws anyway. So I did. Using this particular brand of night cream (I'm not sharing it's brand as I've yet to achieve desired results, its been 3-4 months now) I noticed it contained Vitamin E. Suddenly I had this idea, olive oil contains vitamin E as well, and being in its natural form logically it's much healthier, safer & free of any unwanted additives.

Vitamin E as I recall, is a fat soluble acid & is found in well, fat & oils.

So what I did was instead of the night cream I was using , I substitute my night treatment with olive oil. Less than a week I can feel the difference. My skin feels so much softer & moisturized. I even apply olive oil as my day cream, don't worry it does not make your face looks oily, depending on skin types maybe? You have to try it for yourself to find out this.

NEXT EXPERIMENT : Using olive oil as body lotion ? hmm...
Assalamualaikum!
It's a wonderful Sunday morning and I'm excited to share about virgin coconut oil or as it is called VCO.

It's been a while since I heard about its benefit, yet I haven't had the chance to give it a try. Guess what? I just got myself a bottle of this wonderful VCO, can't wait to give it a go, sweet smelling and crystal clear, it looks way better than the conventional cooking oil.

Okay, so in this article I'm just going to share some of its marvelous benefits. The reason why I'm starting on it is really because I'm trying to resolve some health-related issues. Hopefully it helps, InshaaAllah. If it does, I'll be gladly to write-up a testimony about it.

Wait, what is this VCO exactly? What makes it special compared to other oils? Let me explain briefly from my point of view.

Virgin coconut oil is extracted (cold-pressed) from a matured coconut, this means no processing with heat, as heat converts oil into a unhealthy substance. This process is also free from refining, bleaching and deodorizing, thus making its produce a well-protected and preserved, with all it's essential values attached.

VCO contains medium chain fatty acids (saturated fats) , which are less harmful and much easier for metabolism in the human body compared to long chain fatty acids which are present in normal cooking oils.

BENEFITS OF VCO

Here's a simple recipe for you lovely people out there. Don't we all desire for a better, healthier skin ? Let's go for carrots. Check this recipe out:-

What you need.

1) 12 carrots
2) A handful of kale
3) 2 cups of cranberry
4) 2 golden apples

Simply cut into cubes or larger slices, toss into your awesome juicer & wait for the produce to be gulped down. Please take note, blending isn't juicing. When you blend most nutrition from the veggies or fruits are derived massively, get a proper juicer, it may cost a bit more but it's totally worth every cent.

By the way, I got this recipe from 'Juicing vegetables' and have yet to try it out myself, but this is a wonderful page to LIKE, please LIKE them for more updates.

Thank you for reading, see you again next time, inshaaAllah,

A simple answer. What is babywearing?

Well, it's to wear your baby! Heheh mind me if you find loops & holes in my explanation. I just found out about this recently but yes, I do love it & the idea is even better.

Babywearing is not a modern act.
As we can remember natives from history books..there are pictures of them, with their kids tied up on their back using all sorts of suitable materials, mostly using fabrics, cotton-like materials to wrap their kid on wherever suitable part of their body. And as they have already tied their kid securely, they can move about doing chores hands-free.
Back then, our ancestors, wear their baby for convenience purposes, I don't know if they were aware the many benefits babywearing has to offer to both mum & child. I will briefly list down the awesome side of babywearing, but again I remind you, I am a noob in this field and my knowledge is limited. I'm sharing from wht I've learned. InsyaAllah I'll come up with more articles once I've mastered wearing my own baby with perfection :)

Not all baby carriers are considered as wearing your baby, the main idea of wearing your baby, is to wear correctly, and does not affect the health of physical structure for both wearer and wearee, I hope I will get the chance to elaborate on this in another post. For now, as far as I'm aware of there are 4 kinds of carrier that provides spinal support as well as safety, they are:
1)Wraps
2)Pouches
3)Ring slings
4)Soft structured carriers (A.K.A. SSC)

Okay, now let's get into the awesomeness of babywearing: (in other words, it's benefits)

1)It reduces infant crying. Well, logically it would. When your child is held close to you, they feel secured & comfort, they feel body heat, they feel your heart beat, they feel that they are safe, less depressed & grow normally.
(Some hospitals use babywearing as a prescription to premature babies to hasten improvement, I don't know in other parts of the world, but here in Sabah, Malaysia due to lack of appliances they do this and miraculously this , in my opinion does a better job than any modern medical help would)

2)Bonding between parent & child.

3)Enhances physical & mental development.

4)In some cases, this does helps in baby blues, for those who are prone to depression after giving birth, try wrapping up your baby to your body, this might just help you feel better. InshaAllah.

5)Happy baby! Now that your baby is where it wants to be, close to tenderness & warmth, they surely will have little reason to whine about except when they are hungry or need a change, I place my bet on this.

6)The most cool thing about baby wearing, nurse in public with ease, you'll be covered up by your carrier well enough you won't worry about flashing yourself. I NIP for over a million times (yes, hyperbolic is needed sometimes to make a firm point..) and I've yet to flash myslef not even once, so what do you say for baby wearing? Got to do it! If this article isn't convincing enough, do GOOGLE for more info, as I've mentioned earlier, I'ma hatch-ling in this field. From where I stand, I;m at the tip of the tip of the iceberg.

So, till then keep calm and wear your kid! No regrets, just LOVE...

A Healthy newborn is in the house.

Excitements fills the air, yes but mommies in confinement are not as robust as they were before. And their body needs proper care & nourishment so they can recover well fast. Those who've had this experience or are experiencing confinement know just how badly we want to get back to our normal bodies ASAP because there's just too much restrictions for us as long as we've yet to recover. So, here I'd like to share some suitable diets to hasten & assist a recovery. For those trying for a baby do take care of your diet before & during pregnancy. A healthy diet then will be beneficial at alter times. Trust me. I've been through a healthy diet regime at one pregnancy, and a fad diet on another, and believe me being a healthy pregger feels way better than living on junk food.

Dear ladies, do remember this diet is for health purposes and when you are healthy you will get that shape back, health first, weight issues later. You've been pregnant for 9 months and your tummy took all that time to stretch out, it won't take just days or weeks to flatten that flab, so relax and cool down. No rush in getting your slim figure back, right now you got to focus on recovering and eat what's best for the health of your body & your little baby ( please breastfeed your child, mother's milk is the best, sterilized and complete, other formulated & cow's milk is just not right for human babies).

Like it or not, fish is a better source of protein compared to white/red meat.

Salmon are one of the best choices to include in your diet due to it's rich content of omega oils, but as for me, here in Malaysia I'll suggest white pomfret (I like the black ones better but I heard they're not suitable for mothers in confinement? Anyone who has an idea on this do share & advice.thank you), ikan jenahak, fried anchovies, and selar kuning.

* I'm a bit blurry on food restrictions, as to some chicken & eggs are a 'no, no' during confinement, but to other these are to be consumed.
So, I'll leave out on what should be restricted & I'll just focus on what should be taken*

2.Dairy Products, absolutely

Milk, yoghurt, and cheese. A great source for calcium, Vitamins B & D and protein. Also, these dairy products may increase the output of your breast milk.

If you can't take milk on its own , you might want to try and add it to your cup of hot cocoa, it enhances the flavour , yummy!

Please cut down your coffee / tea intake as these drinks may not only dehydrate your body but it may just as well dries up your milk supply, disturbs your baby' s sleeping pattern and irritation, so just to be safe, reduce your intake of caffeinated drinks.

3.Legumes

Beans, throw them in your soup or make a sweet dish out of it, either way it tastes great. Beans are also a great source of protein and vitamins with fibre., good to hear that as constipation is one of the problems many of us face during & after pregnancy.

4.More Fruits / Veggies, the darker & more colourful the better
Not only during post pregnancy, but at all times having a huge portion of fruits & vegetables in your diet is essential, if it's organic the better.

Fruits & vegetables provides our body with vitamins, minerals (including calcium! found in broccoli & other dark leafy veggies), antioxidants and fiber.

As I mentioned before, fibre assists bowel movements, not only that it also is beneficial in absorbing sugar & fat for elimination.
Gobble up some oranges or other citrus fruits for it contains vitamin C , essential for mothers & for good quality breast milk. Orange juice does just as well, I think.

I also would like to suggest dates. Take them with honey, this combination will provide you with a complete array of nutrition, fiber & water. Studies shown that dates provides us with instant energy and reduces pain while honey does wonders in healing wounds (take note that there is a huge wound where the placenta used to lie in your uterus)

5.Brown Rice
Brown produce is always better than white(processed, refined & washed out of nutritious values).

Be it bread, rice or even flour. Whole-grain consumption are not only packed with nutrition, they are low in calories but are capable of providing energy and manufacturing quality breast milk. White or polished grains are not just absent from nourishment, but they also tend to make you feel sluggish & adds up to your weight faster.

6.Hydration

Yes, the ultimate piece of your diet. Water.
Drink loads of it please. Fruits & juices are counted as hydrating beverages, Carbonated, coloured & caffeinated are not! Plain water may be the best of all anyway, if you could find zam zam water near you, it's the best.
Not only it hydrates your body, it also plays a role in the bowels, for cleansing purposes, milk production and keeps your energy level up. If you're dehydrated many bodily functions are affected, this will delay recovery

Okay, that's all from me, just a short article on after pregnancy birth.
Took me a whole month to finish this briefly written article.. well, sorry but I've got myself a newborn to look after, hopefully I'll manage to write longer & more informative posts in the future, InsyaAllah, till then have a great confinement to new mothers & Thank you for the read.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Some of the top grades are Black tea, Green tea and Oolong tea. One of the most loved properties of tea is it's antioxidant factor - handles the free radical made-mess in our bodies, keeps our arteries well-flushed and of course, the anti-aging agent.

Here today, I'll focus on one type of tea - Oolong tea. I have my reasons and you'll find out later why.

Benefits of Oolong tea

Oolong tea is said to be beneficial in heart health, reducing the risk for heart-related disorders, reduces inflammation and lowering blood cholesterol levels. Thanks to it's content of polyphenolic compounds. It also contains numerous minerals and vitamins vital to our health such as copper, magnesium, zinc, selenium, potassium, vitamins A, B, C, E and K.

More of Oolong's contribution:

Effectively metabolizes fat, cutting the chances for obesity.

Removes free radicals, as I've mention above due to it's antioxidant compound.

Helpful in managing skin-related disorders, particularly eczema, studies have proved that constant consumption of Oolong tea improves skin condition.

Great for your bones & teeth, Oolong tea fights tooth decay , strengthens bone and boosts normal bone growth.

Could be useful as a treatment for diabetes.

Retards cancer cell's growth.

Improves stress condition.

Lu Chun Cha Lingzhi Tea

This is Lu Chun Cha. The tea that I've been waiting ages to make a come back. It's production was put to a halt for a period of time due to shortage of raw materials, but worry no more, it's now back! Since our company couldn't find an established supplier for a particular raw matetrial , that is Gynostemma Pentaphyllum, which is a plant, they've decided to plant it themselves and now this great tea is back in the market.

So, what else is in this tea :

Oolong Tea

Lingzhi A.K.A. ganoderma, not sure what this is? read more about it here >>

Semen Cassiae (i'll briefly explain about this shortly..)

Gynostemma Pentaphyllum (elaboration coming up..)

These are the major contributors in this tea. And they all play a role for a better health in their own respective ways. We've all heard about Oolong. Lets now look at it's other major ingredients and just what can they do for our health.

Lingzhi

Actually I've mention Lingzhi in few of my previous articles, but for the sake of new readers, I'll explain about this magical mushroom in brief.

Lingzhi is used in Chinese Traditional Medication for ages, only now it has been brought out for the whole world's benefit. In ancient times, only the royalty gets to it. No layman could even have a glimpse at it, how precious this Lingzhi was back then. But, thankfully now it's no longer hidden secretly behind the walls of Castles in China. It's now freely available for all.

How does this Lingzhi helps our body? Read on:

Balances our bodily functions, meaning if we have high blood pressure, it helps to tame it down yet at the same time if another individual is having low blood pressure, it elevates the pressure back to normal. This is not a drug. This is a health food. It brings back normality to to the body's system. Thus, it' s consumable by all. It's not made for certain ailments, it just puts your body back where it should be. Yeah, sometimes I get confuse with my own words.

Strengthen immunity.

Balances hormonal functions, including pancreatic activity.

Retards ageing.

Eliminates stubborn toxins buried down in cells of our bodies.

Helps to unclog arteries.

Balances metabolic activity and boost energy.

Reduces fat and cholesterol accumulation.

Fortifies and improves digestive system.

Effectively treats ulcers and burns.

And much, much more that I don't think I'll end about it here. So, if you got any questions regarding Lingzhi , you can always drop me an email at aeshcame@gmail.com

Semen Cassiae, What are it's benefits?

Okay, moving on with the next major component of Lu Chun Cha. Semen Cassiae. These are actually dried seeds. Let's take a look at it's health benefits:

Eliminates pathogenic heat from the body.

A tonic for the eyes, kidney, liver and bowels. It is said to remove excessive heat from the liver, improves eyesight, and relieves constipation.

Inhibits fungi growth & improves skin infection.

Helps in weight losing programs.

Reduces blood cholesterol level.

Gynostemma Pentaphyllum

A relative to the cucumber / gourd , this gynostemma pentaphyllum belongs to the cucurbitaceae family. It is also commonly known as jiaogulan or southern ginseng due to it's similarity of chemical composition to that of the original ginseng(the saponins).

Containing saponins, which is known as gypenosides(the compound which causes foam), trace minerals, amino acids, vitamins as well as proteins,it is known for it's antioxidant properties (i think we all know this has to do with anti-ageing, youthfulness and rejuvenating.) and it's adaptogenic nature(being an adaptogen , it is capable of increasing the body's resistance to stress, trauma, anxiety and fatigue).

It's high content of saponins (which is said to be at a higher level compared to ginseng) increases it's efficacy in regulating bodily systems, such as blood pressure, reproductive functions, digestive system, immunity and much, much more.

More of it's contribution to a healthier body:

Improves liver function to reduce blood cholesterol level.

Improves fat metabolism, thus increasing fat elimination and decreases fat sediments in the body.

Fights obesity.

Facilitates nutrient absorption & strengthens digestion.

Boosts or calms the nervous system in accordance to the needs of our body, helps in managing our stress level as well as maintaining a healthy brain function.

Regulates a normal hormonal function in both men and women.

Maintains a good cardiovascular health.

Improves sore throat and bronchitis.

Okay so, that's about it. So, this tea, Lu Chun Cha, contains all these wondrous ingredients that is made to enhance vitality, youth and pumps up your energy level. As we all already know, tea has a lot of contribution to a better health, but this particular tea is more than just an ordinary tea. With the combination of all these great compositions , it's no surprise when many testified of various health improvements. This tea improves your health, it is not made for a specific disorder or a specific disease. It can be taken as a beverage or as treatment. Good news is there are some solutions in relieving these backaches. Hopefully, insyaAllah, these tips works well.

Why Back Pain occurs

As pregnancy progresses , our body goes through changes and releases new kinds of hormones (relaxin) in adaption for birthing process, these changes and alterations means well to loosen up our muscles and ligaments for the big 'pushing-out' day. And do remember, your growing uterus plays a role in disorientating our spinal posture, as it grows bigger the more discomfort may be felt.

Tips for Relief

Here come's the good part, the pain can be or probably have chances of subsiding. Try one of these few tips and see if it suits you.

Maintaining a good posture. Sit up straight, and use a chair preferably support with a cushion. Elevate your legs a little, this may help in adjusting your pelvic position and ease the pain. When standing, stand up straight, shoulders laid back and relaxed. If you could, avoid standing in the same position for long duration. Standing up straight may be one of the easiest yet best ways in relieving your back ache.

Footwear. This is no time for fashionista , in pregnancy high heels are a no, no. They're no good when you're not even pregnant, so when you are they are worse. Wear flats, comfortable shoes or those kinds of shoes you get from orthopedics, they are made for comfort, not only for the feet but the spine as well.

Lifting objects.Try not to lift heavy objects, but if you must, lift them properly. Squat down and pick up the object, do not bend your back to reach stuff, you'll give your back a stretch you'll later regret.

Don't sleep on y our back. Sleep on your side, with knees bent. It may be more comfortable to place a pillow under your abdomen or between your knees. Sometimes placing both legs on a pillow feels , elevating the legs higher that your body makes you feel better as well.

Have a Proper Diet. Being pregnant is not the ticket to overload your platter ladies. No, no, no.Having too much to eat puts an excessive burden on your body. Excessive fats deposited here and there and causes problems. Maintain a healthy diet, and as your tummy is growing, little space is left for food . What you can do is eat small portions through out the day to avoid heartburn and you's be surprised that your back / neck pain should no longer be bothering you.

Those are the few tips I thought that could help out with your back pain.. and here I like to share a website where stretching and yoga is said to be helpful in these conditions ...

However, the joy of conceiving is sometimes blunted by the existence of morning sickness.
Don't be fooled by it's name, it may only be felt in the morning, or be at it's worst in the morning but for some it does linger through out the day, so expect this.

An empty stomach could be a possible cause for a worsen morning sickness in the morning.
My personal experience, delaying breakfast does makes things worse.

Due to hormonal, physical & other changes occurring in the body, most pregnant women experience some discomfort. It varies in each individual. Some may not even feel a pinch, some may have a slight headache, and some may even vomit for days with an on going nausea. This usually goes on about 3-4months after conceiving, but there are some cases that lasts for the whole 9 months of pregnancy. Tiring, I bet.

Not to worry though, there are some few useful tips you can try to make yourself fell better. Some are my own , some are taken from those who've claimed it works. I hope this helps a bit, if not a lot.

What you can do...

1.As I've mentioned above that an empty stomach worsen morning sickness, try not to go on with an empty stomach. But engrossing yourself with heavy meals does not make it better either. What you can do is take small, frequent healthy meals.
Remember, the baby in your uterus is growing, so our stomach has little space to be indulged with a three-course meal. Take plain unsweetened crackers when you're craving for snacks. Taking regular small meals through out the day also benefits in balancing your blood sugar level.

2.Avoid these foods : Oily & spicy. What's high in fat and contains chilli usually is not the best choice in the menu for pregnant ladies. I have no idea how should I describe the feeling. But trust me, it could leave you lying in bed the whole day if not in the toilet.

3.Try sucking on sour candy, or lemon.

4.If you go to a GP, they probably have drugs to ease your discomfort, but when you're pregnant it's best to keep a distance from drugs, you may never know what are the consequences that may arouse later.

5. Go out and breathe in some fresh air. Don't sit & lie down in the room for the whole day, breathing some fresh air may help to ease your discomfort. Keeping yourself behind the walls could cause even more discomfort.

6.Take enough nutritional supplement, for me I took Bee Pollen. Yung Kien Bee Pollen to be exact. You can read more about it here> here-comes-nourishment. Taking 10-20 of these daily reduces the density of morning sickness vastly, and the best part is it's 100 % natural, no preservative, flavoring or additives. It's also complete with all the nutrient a pregnant mother requires. Vitamin, fats, minerals, it's all in there.

YUNG KIEN BEE POLLEN

7.Take rests when you're feel dizzy, unstable or tired. Your body needs it.
Don't go chasing around doing chores like you would on a normal day.
When I say take a rest, I mean rest or a nap in the afternoon, not laze around when you could be up being active. The best way to maintain a healthy pregnancy is to keep active, take walks in the morning,I find this helpful. Not only to lessen nausea but also to assist with the delivery of your baby later, for vaginal birth that is .

8.Avoid stress. Got a problem? Let it go.
My personal experience is, when I focus on a problem
(i could, or could not resolve..) headaches become worse, tummy aches and all sorts of irritations come by. It's no good for the baby as well, so keep your problems at bay. Adapt a positive attitude and thinking. Everything happens for a reason, don't let it bother you much.
It's danger & Where can you find them...
Heard of this? Well, in today's world I bet every one of us had had an encounter with this term. Hydrogenated fat. As simple as it's name is, it means fat that is hydrogenated.
Also known as Trans fat. Whatever it is called, it isn't doing any any good to your body.

To produce it , hydrogen molecules are pumped into the fat(veggie oil).I won't go detail into it's chemistry and such, let's just keep it simple. When hydrogen and a high temperature forced upon oil (liquid form, that is) with a possibly presence of a catalyst (platinum/nickel) , a product is produced, from liquid it is now a solid material, however it is no longer a natural thing. It is no longer a natural fat.It is now a trans fat, trans fatty acid. And as we all know trans fat are bad fats. They are plastic fats, plastic, i repeat. Unknown to the body's digestive system and is hardly digested. Imagine that!

Let's look into why these fats are pumped with hydrogen in the first place.
For a longer shelf life, this does not means well. Remember what's natural and safe for consumption is something that is biodegradable, that would rot and wear off . A longer shelf life benefits the industrial growth but not our health. Look also for these in your ingredients list : hydrogenated vegetable oil, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, vegetable shortening, margarine. Interesting isn't it? Hydrogenated fats comes from veggie oil, yup. Not animal fats, vegetable fats they are.
Animal fats are already in solid form by nature, vegetable oils are liquid. And even how better vegetable oil is for our diet (e.g : olive oil, sunflower oil, palm oil..),they are worse than animal fats when they transform into a different kind of fat, in this case through heating & hydrogenation.

Are food corporations being irresponsible for this? No comments. They're probably busy with keeping their products long-lasting and counting the cash-ins and forgot about consumer's health. One thing for sure, fast food are obviously abundant with trans fat.

Danger of Trans fatty acids

Let's look at the danger of trans fats. They are responsible for the causing various degenerative chronic diseases including :-

Heart disease

Diabetes

Birth defects

Cancer

Mal-absorption of nutrients

Breakdown of cell wall structures , organs and tissues of the body, including nervous system tissues, spinal cords and the eyes.

Where can you find trans fat?

Don't be surprised, but our grocery list maybe overloaded with foods that contain these plastic indigestible fats. Here are some of the consumables that contains trans fat:-

Cakes & biscuits

Confectionery

Fast foods (Usually solidified vegetable oil is used for frying, as it may cost less on the budget)

Canola / rapeseed oil

Dairy Products

Whatever that is processed - be it breakfast cereals, granola bars, oat bars or how healthy the bar sounds, it has gone through processing so do check the ingredients. (EVEN WHEN TRANS FAT: 0...you should take precautions..)

Chips

Salad dressings

Here's a statement from the FDA:

"Consumers can know if a food contains trans fat by looking at the ingredient list on the food label. If the ingredient list includes the words "shortening," "partially hydrogenated vegetable oil" or "hydrogenated vegetable oil," the food contains trans fat."
So, even if the label clearly states "Trans Fat: 0 grams," and even if the product goes an extra step to print "0g of Trans Fat" somewhere on the front of it, if you see any of the above words in the ingredients, then it contains at least some trans fat per serving. (Credits: http://www.acaloriecounter.com)

What you can do

For starters you can convert to virgin coconut oil for cooking & virgin olive oil as salad dressings.

Use butter for spreads instead of margarine.

Try to avoid fried foods, at home or when eating out.

Partially hydrogenated oil in the ingredients list? - a no, no in your grocery list.

Cut down on baked goods, this includes cookies & doughnuts.

That's all for now..hope to write up more on this in the future..got to do more reading then..tank you for reading, have a great day & have less of trans fat today.
But if you know this isn't tomato, good for you.
When I first met this particular fruit, namely persimmon, I have no interest in it, due to it's appearance that resembles a tomato, but orange-colored. I imagined, this has got to taste like tomato, this is a vegetable( nothing wrong with that though).
Then one day, my hubby decided to buy some persimmon, because he read about the values it had on health. So, he did bought it, and together we discover how delicious the fruit was. Not at all sour as tomato, in fact it's sweetness was just right, delighting our taste buds and it was not even soft, it was crunchy and crispy. Now, we're loving it. A lesson here: no judging the book by it's cover.
This fruit is originally from china, but like any other fruits, thanks to commercials and importing-exporting interrelations, we all can have a taste of it.
Eat it with or without the skin.
So, go to the nearest store and grab a basket of these, one is never enough.

Scientifically known as Curcuma Longa, a relative of ginger .
In the Malay language it is called kunyit.

A root that is mainly used in dishes and medicinal purposes.
You can find it in powder form, but personally the real thing is more satisfying.

Turmeric has been used for ages to treat flatulence , menstrual irregularities and now in the western medication as a powerful antioxidant & anti-inflammatory agent.

Here, in Malaysia , women in confinement are advised to take blended turmeric mixed with honey to hasten recovery.

The mixture may taste a bit unpleasant but it does really help to reduce inflamed tissues, and you need not much of it, less than half a glass of the mixture daily is good enough.

Curcumin, the special component of turmeric that is responsible for its anti-inflammatory capabilities. It is also said that the turmeric's antioxidant properties is equivalent to that of Vitamins C & E, beneficial in combating raging Free Radicals & protect tissues from unstable oxygen molecules attacks.

Studies suggest that turmeric may hold some strong anti-carcinogenic (cancer-preventing) properties & may lower blood cholesterol levels. It is also shown that it increases the production of liver enzymes, fortifying the liver's defense level against invading enemies.

You can take it either orally or applied topically to reduce inflamed wound and to curb infection. Turmeric is also known to have a positive effect on the gastrointestinal system and inhibit intestinal spasms.
Did you know that the way you eat may be taking the reason behind the toll on your health? Well , let's see if we are eating according to the rules.

1.Use Smaller Plates

Is your plate big enough to feed the entire nation? If yes, you're breaking rule number 1 already. The bigger plate you're having, the more food you'll be consuming , meaning the more calories you'll be adding to your waistline. Having big portions of meals at a time also slows down digestion and retards nutrient absorption.
So, next time you're eating, eat to fill up that hungry stomach ,not to stuff it full like you never met food before.
2.Make half of your meals : Veggies / Fruits

When you are taking 50:50 of veggies or fruits in a meal, you won't be eating much of other stuff which could possibly be the unhealthier choice. With this much of fruits/ veggies in a meal, at least you'll be getting enough nutrients and fiber , at the same time reducing and eliminating fats in your body. Do remind yourself, starting your meal with fruits / veggies is way better then saving it for the last.

3.Eating on the run? NO.

If you're rushing around places, don't grab fast foods. (The usual choice when we're in a hurry).

If you must eat something, then go for energy bars instead. If you go for fast foods, your brain still registers the food as a snack, because you're in a rush. So, on your next meal you'll overeat unnecessarily as you would still feel the hunger clinging in your tummy.

4.Go for a shorter ingredients list

Simple as it sounds. If the list of ingredients is lengthy, you'll probably find more salt, sugar, preservatives and all sorts of unknown labels. So sticking to a shorter, recognizable and assuring list is better and safer. In this case why not just go for something natural?

5.Nutritious and cheap

Who says nutritious foods cost an extra penny? It doesn't have to be so. Eating produce in it's season saves a lot on the budget and going for beans or lentils instead of beef sandwich doesn't cost you much. And if you got green fingers, why not grow your own fruits or vegetables?
Cutting down on fast food and junk food is another way of conservation. See, it is easy and it is cheap to have nutrition and stay healthy.

6.Plan healthier meals

Take some time and plan your meals. Make them yummy & nutritious. Home-cooked nutritious food may take longer minutes to prepare compared to ready-made or processed but one thing for sure, they sure are much more worth it.

7.Retrain your palate

Try to train your taste buds.
Take a week or two for transformation.
Less sugar, less salt and less fat.
Your tongue may not accept the changes instantly.

Perseverance and determination plays a role here. Be persistent and don't neither your tongue nor your mind tell you that the food taste funny or lacking of something. Go with it and you'll blend with it in no time. InsyaAllah.

8.Stop eating before you are full - Not after you are too full

If you don't fell hungry anymore, stop eating.
Approximately when you're 80% full you should be chewing on anything anymore. Stop, Stop, stop. Your tummy need space, when it's overloaded, it can no longer serve it's function well and you could no longer feel the comfort of breathing with ease.
Do gorge on the food, we are human, I think we should know better on how to keep our manners on the table. And overeating doesn't portray good manners.

9.Eat with your family or a friend

The point is to eat with someone. It shows that when eating with a companion or with the family you tend to eat less junk, less chances of overeating and less weight gain. Eating with the family also helps in family bonding and inter-reaction between the members. Family meals? Let's go for it.

10.We hear this all the time - YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT

What' s in your diet really does make up who you are. You want healthy , radiant skin and flourishing expression? Eat well, it shows physically.
Loads of fat consumption and all the bad stuff gives you dull facial , pimples , and flab. In the long run, your health is at risk. So, be wise and eat healthy.
Study your diet, gradually eliminate the toxic and gradually bring in the fresh , natural and healthy substitute. It's easy to be healthy. All you need is a start and things will roll in just fine. All the best =) ...

Thanks for the read.. Do come again for more =)
To all my muslim readers~ Salam Mubarak..

The qurban - sacrifice of slaughtering on this very day is more than just ending the lives of many livestock through out the world.. There's a lesson & reminder for all Muslim , as we are aware of the history of Abraham (Ibrahim, A.S) was told to sacrifice his beloved son, the test given to him by Allah SWT. Today , we Muslim slaughter cows , sheep & camels and distribute it's meat equally as we are told, to remember that very day and to train ourselves in becoming more considerate & to embrace selflessness . Also, this is a wonderful deed and it pleases Allah SWT. It may not be a compulsary act, but for those who have the means to participate, it's highly recommended you do so. Salam Idul Adha~
It's not meant specifically for pregnant ladies, but since pregnant women's throat may not accept a lot of spicy dishes(my experience)..steamed & soups go the other way round, it usually gets down pretty well.

And fish tastes great when steamed .I can't tolerate the taste of poultry much when I'm conceiving, so I go for fishes and Alhamdulillah, it tastes better than ever.

Ingredients:

Fish (You could use either barammundi @ seabass (siakap) , black/white pomfret (bawal).
Here I'd be using seabass.

Assalamualaikum & hi all. Today I'd likeo share about this product I recently found, and I totally am loving it I was talking about pregnancy before, and with pregnancy some intestinal disturbances are common occurrence, for example constipation & heartburn. This is why I'd like to introduce something for the gastrointestinal system. As for me, I'd be glad if these problems subside, if not a lot, a little would be just fine. As long as the intensity dampens it's what every preggy mothers would yearn for.

Okay, let's move on with this Lacto-berry. What it really does and what great ingredients it has to offer, the best part, it tastes wonderful, thanks to it's content of berries I bet it's taste would satisfy any craving mouth.

The valuable health-beneficial ingredients

Bifidobactirium Lactis(L-form) : Capable of breaking down fibre and the diffcult-to-digest oligosaccharides, improving the acidity in the GI tract, subduing the proliferation of harmful bacteria, and encouraging the digestion and absorption of dairy produce

Bifidobacterium Longum (L-form): Maintaining flora balance of friendly colonies in the GI tract, inhibiting the growth of pathogens, preventing the onset of constipation, and militating dysentery. Bifidobacterium Longum is found in the large intestine, where it produces the B-group vitamins and other enzymes that aid in digestion and prevention against diarrhoea caused by antibiotics or food pathogens. At the same time, it also effectively helps the human body in resisting the intrusion of infectious agents, getting rid of harmful bacteria, regulating the immune system, strengthening our physical resistance against diseases affecting the gut, and reducing the risk of cancer.

Isomalt: A sugar substitute almost as sweet as sugar, Isomalt has half the calories, hence is safe for consumption even among diabetics. It is capable of exciting the GI activities to further soften the stools and alleviate constipation. Besides, it also encourages the growth of Bifidobacterium and initiating peristaltic activities of the friendly bacteria to improve the wellbeing of the GI tract

Cranberry Powder: The anthocyanidin found in Cranberry is capable of warding off the harms of E. Coli on our urinary tract. With 80%~90% of the urinary tract infection attributed to E. Coli, this special extract of Cranberry is exceptional in preventing E. Coli from adhering onto the urinary tract, hence keeping infections at bay.

Some additional Info's :

What is Probiotics?
Probiotics, which offer immense health-giving benefits to the human body, refer to the friendly bacteria residing in our gastrointestinal tract. They are capable of improving the microbial balance in the intestines, apart from promoting healthy growth of our gut flora and reinforcing the immune mechanism in our bowel system. For people suffering from allergies, probiotics are helpful in subduing allergic responses and inflammations.

Multi-coat Technology

In general, an uncoated probiotic formula gives the drawbacks of intolerance to an acidic condition and has a short shelf life, hence tends to lose all its viability in the presence of the strongly acidic gastric juice in our stomach. Shuang Hor Lacto-Berry is formulated through the state-of-the-art multi-coat technology under a body-temperature simulated condition, which not only effectively does away with the above inadequacies but also ensures an enhanced potency of the product.
Life's got me all around the world but here. So, anyway, today I'll be writing briefly on the 1st trimester of pregnancy (just because a lot of people around me are, will and have been giving birth , also I might join them for another round or two...InsyaAllah).

If you're pregnant , congratulations! The first trimester refers to the first three months of pregnancy, in these early stages, pregnant women usually experience some discomfort which differs between individuals , at least there's a sign you've conceived. Some may not experience it , but for those who do, there's always a blessing in disguise. As the first trimester is the most vital time we should nourish ourselves as this is the time the baby inside us are in the need for most nutrition to build a strong and healthy body.

Signs of a possible pregnancy

Missed period

Nausea & vomiting , morning sickness

Changes in libido

Breast tenderness/soreness

Frequent urination

Strange cravings / changes in appetite

Fatigue

Abdominal cramps

Skin changes, skin sensitivity & appearance of stretch marks

Enlarged abdomen

Positive urinal home pregnancy test

Detected fetal heartbeat with ultrasound

What should you do next?

Well, I suggest a visit to your practitioner to confirm the possibilities(especially if this is your first), however in some cases , some individuals delays a visit to the doctor due to many factors. I think it's okay to delay until up to 2-3 months of pregnancy, just make sure that you take precautions & eat well to ensure a healthy pregnancy. I'm not asking you to delay your check up, if you have the time please go as soon as possible.

Avoid alcohol , drugs(aspirin may harm your pregnancy, if you're on drugs please seek medical advice & inform about your pregnancy) and cigarettes, don't smoke and please be absent from places where there are smokers. Even the smoke is highly toxic.

Please, no gassy beverages, instant noodles, refined sugar and canned foods.

Drink lots of fluid, preferably water.

Take more foods containing folic acid, to assist in a normal neural tube development for the baby . These includes: oranges, dark green leafy veggies, melon, fortified breakfast cereals, lentils, beans and sunflower seeds.

Increase iron intake, this is for both mother and child as many preggers are susceptible to anemia. Iron rich foods: Whole grains, beans, nuts, raisins, lean meat, liver, greens & tofu.

Eat high-protein & high-carbohydrate foods(remember, pregnancy is the wrong time to be worrying on weight gain). Take more potatoes, brown rice & cheese.

Take naps if you feel tired.

Exercise moderately, be careful not to get overheated.

Read up on some pregnancy books for useful tips & preparations.

You can now start planning on where to give birth and go shop baby stuff.

For the spouses, as this is the time your wives undergo some emotional imbalances, hormonal and body changes, your support and encouragement would be most appreciated. House chores may be delayed, so held a hand in the weekends if not on the weekdays.

Suddenly I got myself a busy schedule, hence the scarce of time for new posts. Anyway, getting back with the topic of sunnah of fasting.

Sahoor

Sahoor is the time before fajr when we take our meal (pre-dawn/late night), but it's better to take is as late as possible. As delaying sahoor is part of the sunnah."The people will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the Iftar (breaking the fast) and delay taking Suhoor".[1]
Sahoor is a blessing from Allah SWT. A companion of The Prophet said,"I entered upon Rasulullah SAW and he was taking sahoor, and he said to me, "it is a blessing Allah SWT has given you, so do not leave it" [2]
Even by drinking just a glass of water is sufficient, as it still falls under obeying the sunnah.[3]
Not only it comes wit blessing, but sahoor also benefits physical health and provides the body with essential nutrients and nourishment to help us sustain ourselves through out the day.

Break fast before the maghrib prayer- The Prophet (Pbuh) used to break fast before he did performed te maghrib prayer[4].

Best food to be taken at sahoor-dates.The Prophet said, "How excellent dates are as a sahoor for the believers"[5].

Hastening the iftar- The Prophet (Pbuh) said, "My Ummah (nation) will not cease to be upon my Sunnah as long as they do not await the stars when breaking the fast"[6]. He also said, "The Deen will not cease to be uppermost as long as the people hasten to break the fast, since the Jews and the Christians delay it"[7]

Foods recommended at iftar-The Prophet (Pbuh) used to break fast with fresh dates, if he could find any he would eat dried dates, if couldn't find any of those either he'd go for a glass of water before praying[8].

Virtues of du'a at the time of iftar-The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said extolling the time of Iftar for supplication,Indeed, the fasting person has at the time of breaking the fast, a supplication that is not rejected[9].One should supplicate to Allah hoping that it will be answered, and knowing that Allah does not respond to a heedless and inattentive heart.

Thank you for reading this brief article..Have a wonderful ramadhan (^_^)
This is the book: Quran saintifik (Scientific Quran) by Dr. Danial Zainal Abidin. A worthy book to read, revealing much of The Quran's wonders that probably are unknown to the majority of Muslims, including me. The Blessings of Fasting

Fasting is one of the five 'pillars of Islam'. The other four are;-

Faith or belief in the Oneness of God and the finality of the prophethood of Muhammad.

Establishment of the daily prayers.

Concern for and almsgiving to the needy.

The pilgrimage to Makkah for those who are able.

The order for fasting is mentioned in the Quran[1]. Fasting in the month of Ramadhan is beneficial for health. For example, in 1984, Dr.Soliman from the University Hospital of Amman made an experiment involving 42 men and 26 women whom all fasted in the month of Ramadhan. They all had a blood test taken to measure their potassium, sodium ,urea, cortisol, testosterone, glucose, cholesterol and fatty acids levels. Also recorded was their weight, before and after a month of fasting.
Apart from that,Dr. F. Azizi and associated from the Science University of Tehran made an observation over 9 men, all fasting through out the month of Ramadhan. Blood tests taken to measure levels of glucose, bilirubin, calcium, phosphorus, protein, albumin, follicle stimulating hormone, thyroid stimulating hormone, testosterone, prolactin, luteinising hormone, thyroxine-4 and thyroxine-3. Their blood were tested before Ramadhan, day-10 of Ramadhan, day 20th of Ramadhan and on the 29th of Ramadhan. Also, weight recorded.
The tests showed that with fasting, blood sugar level was reduced to a lower lever without harmful effects. The harmful LDL(low density lipoprotein) cholesterol was decreased and the good HDL(high density lipoprotein) cholesterol was increased.
General fat count in the blood was reduced, this proven. These experiments showed that, fasting in the month of Ramadhan (also significant for fasting, other than the month of Ramadhan) does not affect health negatively. It's the opposite, fasting is proven to improve metabolism and prevents various kinds of diseases, especially those associated with excessive fats or sugar. This matter was brought up in the Islamic Perspective in Medicine by Dr. Shahid Athar, published by American Trust Publications, Indianapolis.

Fasting and Detoxification

Generally, fasting is one of the best detoxifying process.Detoxification means to clean or cleanse the body wholly from toxins or poison. According to Dr. Lonny J. Brown(Ph.D) in Adventures in therapeutic Fasting, "the habit of today's society is whenever someone falls sick, he/she will take some sort of medication to treat the symptoms. It is time we take make a maneuver, try something different when we get ill, try fasting. Fasting is really, a remedy. It stimulates changes to the body's metabolism and these changes assist cleansing and healing in the body.
As we fast, our organs chill and rests. This rest helps elimination of harmful materials in the body and rejuvenate our cells. Fasting is one of the oldest treatment in the world. It was done by many folks of the past, even Hippocrates, Galen and Paracelsus made fasting a treatment for their patients. Plato, Socrates, Pythagoras and Mahatma Gandhi often fasted. Based on experiments and testimonials of the patients, fasting was found to cure insomnia(sleeping difficulty), asthma, joint inflammation, digestion disorders and skin diseases.
According to Dr. Cindy Engles(Ph.D) in Wild Health:How Animals Keep Themselves Well and What We Can Learn From Them, "When animals falls sick, they avoid food. Researchers observing this phenomenon concluded that avoiding consumption while being unwell is a natural process in assisting healing. It benefits not only for animals, but men as well. Fasting hasten healing as bacteria in general lives on iron to strive, thus by not eating iron is lacking and this weakens the bacteria"
Fasting, in the sense of no food and no water in a short period does wear out the body. In a prestige medical journal, The Lancet, it wrote, "The fast that does not cause weakness to the body, does not bring about any negative side effects to the body.If a death was to occur due to fasting, other factors other than fasting should be investigated first.." (Stewart, W.,Fragmentation of Cardiac Myofibrils After Therapeutic Starvation, Lancet i:1154. 1969)
Leon Chaitow (N.D., D.O., M.R.O.), a lecturer at University of Westminster, London, also an author of more than 50 books about health and alternative medicine, concluded that, "Even fasting does has some risks and side effects, fasting with no eating nor drinking in a short duration is very safe." Fasting in the month of Ramadhan is considered short term, thus basically it is safe and does no harm to the body.
In 1994, the first international congress themed 'Health & Ramadhan' was heald in Casablanca. Medicinal specialists from all over the world laid out more than 50 of their experimental work sheets. All experiments and observations proved that Ramadhan fasting brings no harm to the body, instead it heals and strengthen body constitution.
However, there is an exception from fasting for those with chronic illnesses such as, heart problems, kidney failure, intense migraine, kidney stones and what qualifies. Exceptions is permitted, even so by Allah SWT, as it is stated in the Quran[2].

The Secrets of Sahur

In Islam it's a sunnah that we fast, and I bet many of us feel better when we sahur compared to missing it. Like any other sunnah, there is a hikmah in sahur, here I reveal the secrets of sahur. (Taken from this book, of course..)
There are many hadiths that strongly suggest sahur in the Ramadhan. Among them Bukhari, Muslim, Ahmad, Tirmidzi, and Nasai[3]. In these hadiths sahur is associated with blessings and goodness. In other hadiths by Muslim, Ahmad, Abu Daud and Nasai[4] we are asked to sahur to differentiate our fasting from the people of the book. The times we are recommended for sahur is further towards dawn, as it was said that we are told to delay sahur but hasten our fast breaking[5].
According to Imam Ibn Abdil Bar, all hadiths regarding to the delaying of sahur and the hastening of breaking fast are all sahih and mutawatir. There is a significance in a delayed sahur, as it can be considered as breakfast, thus we don't feel hunger upon our regular chores of the day. A researched showed that the most important meal of the day is breakfast, BBC News dated March 7th 2003 reported that taking breakfast preserves health compared to other meals in the day.

A research carried out by Dr. Mark Pereira and pals from the Harvard Medical Center concluded that those who skipped breakfast are at higher risk of obesity, heart-related diseases and diabetes. In the same research, it shows that those who regularly ate breakfast cuts the risk by 50% off regarding blood sugar level disorders from those who skipped their morning meals.
This matter is vital when kids are involved, and kids need their breakfast as without breakfast their development is retarded due to their tiny physique. Studies show that upon waking up(in the morning), blood glucose level is decreased and without breakfast this condition is prolonged and defects children's learning capacity.
Another research by Dr.Theresa Nicklas and friends from Baylor's College of Medicine, on 700 participants from Lousiana, all skipped breakfast, resulting in twice the risk of iron deficiency and anemia. As reported by Kerry Neville from Chicago Tribune, Sept. 24th 2001.
Clearly, those who fast with sahur gains benefit. The time of sahur is also known as the time of blessings(dawn)[6].
It's the best time to detoxify your body systems. It is the best month we all have been waiting for.

Some people are more potent towards illness in the month of Ramadhan, and they think that fasting has cause them to fall sick. No. Totally no. Fasting brings all the good things and cures many ailments, causing an illness is very unlikely. But you must remember, you are what you eat. And in the month of Ramadhan, our body is given rest from consumption for the whole day, it has become empty and ready to absorb anything that goes into it later on. This is why it is best we break our fast with nutritious food, the best choice is dates and a glass of water. As our body will instantly absorb what it is being fed. So, if you give it something deep fried or fast food you are feeding yourself toxin. Take advantage of this valuable month and cleanse your body. Learn to lay off the bad stuff. Start eating healthy.
Those who are sick and are unable to fast, they may break their fast, as Allah SWT is The Most Merciful permits this.

First, choose natural food sources as food.
The best choice is veggies or fruits, yes, they are wholesome, rich in fiber, packed with antioxidants, water, vitamins and minerals. Not only they make us feel full, they nourish us well. Whole wheat, whole grains and whole-stuff are way better than refined.
Beans , lentils and rice are good source for carbohydrate and keeps hunger away longer. They are also good sources of fiber.

Loads of water
I mentioned this before. Drink more water and please avoid caffeinated drinks. They make you go to the toilet even more and cause dehydration. Having enough water is vital to prevent the onset of migraines, mood swings and irritability.

Cut down on these;-

Sugar

flavoring

Spicy foods

Fried food

salt

fat

caffeine

Light exercises
Such as stretching and walking is adviceable. Don't over do it. Just a bit of activity to keep your body working. Laying around all day will only make you feel groggy later. Just because you're fasting, doesn't mean sleeping all day is the best thing to do. Get up and get moving. Especially if you did planned on shedding off a few kilos.
It's important that we engage ourselves in some sort of activity to keep our body in a normal working order. Movements helps in preventing constipation, one of the most common complaints heard in the month of Ramadhan, it;s not a chronic disease, it's treatable, insyaAllah.

Common problems to be avoided

Costipation- InsyaAllahrelieved by water & fiber consumption.

Indigestion- Avoid taking too much spicy & fried food.

Lethargy-Try having a balanced diet.

Headaches -More water , balanced diet, no negative thinking.

Low blood pressure- Same application as lethargy, as lethargy may be due to a lowered blood pressure.

Muscle cramps-Usually due to lack of potassium, magnesium and calcium in the blood, take red meat and more green leafy veggies to avoid this problem.

Joint pains- Sometimes due to arthritis or the extra salat(tarawih). To avoid this, eat healthily and keep active gradually before Ramadhan as this may help.

Kidney stones-Lack of fluid, easy, just drink more water.

Sugesstion

Okay, this is a supplement I've been taking. It's completely packed with all essential nutrients, just name it: viatmins, minerals, fatty acids, calcuim, potassium, hydration, it's all complete. And it's 100% free of any additives, preservatives and all those nonsense, this is 100% bee pollen, and that's it. I'm suggesting this as some of you may not have the time to prepare nutritious meals and no time to provide your family with enough essential nutrients in the month of Ramadhan, it's even great for kids.

So, if any of you have any of the following problems, you might want to give this a try, I guarantee you it's worth it. It really helps for:-

Low blood pressure

Pregnant women & breastfeeding mothers are allowed to break fast or exempted from fasting if they feel that their health or their baby's health is negatively altered due to fasting. However, for those who are capable of doing so, it's highly recommended that you do fast and you are allowed to fast. If you really have the strength you are required to fast.
Many of us tend to think that when we are fasting our milk supply decreases in volume and quality. But really, it does not. Milk production is not affected, but you might get a little bit dehydrated. So, less chores to avoid this problem. In fact, even if a women goes on a day up till 24 hours with no food, milk is still produced as it normally would. Ramadhan fasting is only a few hours from the break of dawn till sunset, I met many lactating mom's survived the month of ramadhan while fasting just as a non-breastfeeding mum would. However, if your body feels funny and unwell, do break your fast as your health may be harmed.
As a mom who breastfeeds her child, I understand the fear that many moms face when the month of fasting looms closer. Here I'd like to share some tips on how to keep the milk production flowing and to keep our body fit in the month of Ramadhan. Hope it's a help to mommies out there who wishes to fast while breastfeeding their babies.

Dietary guideline

Metabolism slows down in the month of Ramadhan, no need for extra consumption in the night, for those with gastritis and constipation problems, it is advised to take more fiber-rich foods in your diet. Dietary fiber helps to reduce gastric acidity and excessive bile acids, as well as prevents constipation.
Have more fruits and veggies. Not only they are rich in fiber, they are packed with phytonutrients, vitamins and essential nutrients. When we take more fiber, we don't feel hungry quickly, so this is a good point why we should increase our fiber intake.
Meats and beans are good source of protein.
Whole wheat products, oatmeal and rice provides us with sufficient carbohydrates for energy.
Sufficient water is sufficient. Heh. Yes hydrate your body well, with proper hydration, your body will produce milk consistently. Have more of these; fruit juices, veggie juices and soups.
Avoid spicy food & caffeinated beverages. Why? Caffeine are diuretics, they make you go to the loo more, thus more fluid is eliminated, leaving your body in dryness, not good when you're fasting. In normal days, you could just refill yourself up, but in the Ramadhan, avoid these drinks, as they also tend to cause mood swings, irritability and unnecessary headache(due to dehydration).
Gradually drink water in the night for back ups of milk supply in the day, formulated or full cream milk mixed with few spoons of honey might be helpful.

Menu suggestion

At sahur: Take a balanced, healthy meal. A few dates(7 preferably) blended with warm milk, a bowl of oats and honey mixed with dried fruits and of course, drink plain water. Sounds simple, yet it does keeps your body active throughout the day.

Breaking fast: As the sunnah goes, it's advised to take 3 dates and a glass of water when breaking fast. After performing Maghrib prayers, you can enjoy a heavier meal. A plate of rice with protein(chicken/meat/fish) and veggies for fiber. A bowl of dhall dish would be great to go with. Keep your cooking healthy, rule out additives and flavorings. Salt and pepper makes the dishes flavored well already.

If you need to pump out breast milk, do so in the night or at sahur time.

Have some healthy snacks, if you get hungry in the night. Raisins or any other dried fruits are the best choice.

I do recommend you take dates, they are just filling as well as nourishing. Take it for breaking fast, at sahur or whenever you feel like eating. It is one of the barakah(blessed) foods and I bet there is many reasons why it is so.

Don't forget to seek guidance, patience and strength from the One Who is Greater, Allah SWT. As He is the only One who truly knows what you are and will be going through. And it is He who will have the power to help you. InsyaAllah.

If your child has started on solid foods, try to offer other snacks or water bottle instead of your milk, that is if your child has reached two years or above. (I'm trying to stop my child from breastfeeding, but to no avail, she is turning two this Ramadhan and I hope she will cease before year end, InsyaAllah..)

That's just a little bit from me . Hope it helps. Thanks for reading and may you have a smooth Ramadhan. Salam.

My first experience with cranberry juice was a shocker, I never expected the sourness, but as time goes by it's really no big deal, mix it with water to dilute it's sourness.
Cranberry juice is widely known to be effective in treating viral infection, in this case specifically for those suffering from UTI (urinary tract infection).

It's high acidity level kills off viruses/bacteria and prevents them from adhering onto the mucosa lining of the bladder. The viruses then will be excreted through urination.

UTI patients feels a frequent urge to urinate, and when they do so they'll feel a burning sensation with of course, pain. Delayed treatment may lead to kidney damage.

Effectively suppresses helicobacter pylori(h.pylori) infections. ( the major cause of peptic and gastric ulcers)

Reduce cholesterol level. Increasing the HDL(high density lipoprotein) and reducing the LDL(low density lipoprotein). Which significantly plays a role in heart health.

Prevents the formation of kidney stones.

It's phytochemical compounds fights of herpes virus. This compound also helps to prevent cancer and plays a role in anti aging processes.

Protects against macular degeneration, an eye disorder that usually affects the elder. (Many kinds of berries serves the function in preserving healthy sight)

Removes dental plaque.

Improves respiratory infection.

Prevents osteoporosis, and is said to eliminate cellulite problems.

Dried cranberries

Craving for snacks? Snack on these instead, they're usually taste sweeter than the juice and made perfect for chews. You can also add it into your salad, pancake mix, oats or yogurt to cheer things up.
FYI sometimes they're called 'craisins'.
Just like dried apricots, dried cranberries contains richer source of nutrients compared to the fresh ones.

They are high in fiber which relieves constipation problems and balancing blood cholesterol level. Did you know that cranberries plays a role in maintaining a lady's health? Well, apart from UTI(which commonly occurs in children and 80% of women), it keeps the skin healthy and looks vibrantly healthy.

Contains high levels of vitamin E- keeps skin healthy, an antioxidant, anti inflammatory agent, improves blood flow and improves blood quality.

They boost immunity.

Maintains a healthy cardiovascular system.

They too, are beneficial in combating against UTI.

Reduce damages by free radicals.

Offers protection against nervous system disorders, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

Thanks for reading, try out this as your snack for today!

Mak anak tigahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15312659192990792752noreply@blogger.com6
