Image
Alhamdulillah! A Healthy newborn is in the house. Excitements fills the air, yes but mommies in confinement are not as robust as they were before. And their body needs proper care & nourishment so they can recover well fast. Those who've had this experience or are experiencing confinement know just how badly we want to get back to our normal bodies ASAP because there's just too much restrictions for us as long as we've yet to recover. So, here I'd like to share some suitable diets to hasten & assist a recovery.  For those trying for a baby do take care of your diet before & during pregnancy. A healthy diet then will be beneficial at alter times. Trust me. I've been through a healthy diet regime at one pregnancy, and a fad diet on another, and believe me being a healthy pregger feels way better than living on junk food. Dear ladies, do remember this diet is for health purposes and when you are healthy you will get that shape back, health first, weight i...

10 Simple Eating Rules

Image
How's your eating? Did you know that the way you eat may be taking the reason behind the toll on your health? Well , let's see if we are eating according to the rules. 1.Use Smaller Plates Is your plate big enough to feed the entire nation? If yes, you're breaking rule number 1 already.  The bigger plate you're having, the more food you'll be consuming , meaning the more calories you'll be adding to your waistline. Having big portions of meals at a time also slows down digestion and retards nutrient absorption. So, next time you're eating, eat to fill up that hungry stomach ,not to stuff it full like you never met food before. 2.Make half of your meals : Veggies / Fruits When you are taking 50:50 of veggies or fruits in a meal, you won't be eating much of other stuff which could possibly be the unhealthier choice. With this much of  fruits/ veggies in a meal, at least you'll be getting enough nutrients and fiber , at the same time reducing a...

Food Rules: an eater's manual

Image
I'm out of ideas on what should I write, so today I'm sharing a few vital points I've extracted from a book I recently read, a few months back(considered recent? hmm..) Okay, it's a book by Michael Pollan, titled Food Rules: an eater's manual . And the truth is, I don't even know who this guy is, never heard of him what-so-ever but I found out there are a few other books published written by him, so I'm the one out-dated, it's not him unpopular or anything. This book is quite interesting, and different from any other books I've read. It's on, well, as the title suggest, food, more precise is choosing the kind right of food and how to distinguish between what really can be classified under the label 'food' and what should be under the label 'plastic'. Though it isn't a lengthy read, I won't be sharing every single word as he wrote it, this would be a synopsis of it sort, this will be my edition of food rules, just as long ...

Here comes nourishment : revealing the benefits of Yung Kien Bee Pollen

Image
If this is your first visit here, you can read about YK Bee Pollen in either one of these articles:- Free radicals and supplements...> Immune system booster...> Before we move into the topic of this YK Bee Pollen, I'd like to invite you to dig a little bit into the history of 'me'.  As a kid, who knows nothing much but to pamper much of my sweet tooth's desires was a mistake, and since I really enjoyed the indulgence, the habit was brought up till I reached adolescence. Oh yeah, daily chocolate treats were no big deal for me and the toll was; toothaches! Not once..not twice..but countless of visits to the dentist finally left a scar of lesson in my head. Then I started to cut down on those sweet stuff. But other junk foods, such as crisps and fast foods were still on the list. My attention towards my health aroused when I first studied about MSG, additives, all sorts of chemicals and how they affect the body. However attentiveness wasn't enough, and I d...

Reducing the harmful effects of Red Meat

Image
We have gone through the negative side of red meat. Now the obvious way of avoiding the health risks it possess is to cut down our intake of red meat, however in any circumstances that we cannot abstain ourselves from it, we could at least try to lessen the harmful effects packed with it, by injection or by overcooking(carcinogenic). I have no idea how can we prevent the antibiotics effects, but we can if we are cooking free range beef that is. My tips here today will be cutting on 2 things, they are:- The cholesterol level. The carcinogens. Making red meat a safer consumption Every now and then we still go for red meat booths (except for vegans) when we go for grocery, so don't let those cravings ends up in an unhealthy meal. Feed ourselves well, guilt-free! If you're planning for a BBQ outing with friends and family, you could substitute the use of charcoal with propane , less smoke and lower temperature requirement, this reduces the formation of carcinogens. Marinati...

Reasons to cut down on Red Meat

Image
A salami sandwich for breakfast. A double cheese burger for lunch. Steak for dinner. What's wrong with this picture? I bet you see the problem. Meat, meat and more meat. Red meat is one of the popular choices for burgers, grills, stews, pizza, pasta, salads, and even made into loaves! Believe it or not, but red meat has dominated most of our menu lists. Wonder what's wrong with that? Read on to find out. A study by WHO(world health organization) proved that upon regular consumption, red meat is associated to the increased rate of cancer, heart disorders, arthritis, stroke, diabetes, obesity, food poisoning, osteoporosis, and appendix disorders. Red meat contains chemicals, DDT from the plants the eat that leads to liver problems and cancer. When livestock, such as cows digest DDT-treated grass, the toxicity of this particular chemical is tripled or even more and when we consume red meat that is already contaminated with an elevated level of DDT, the toxicity increases more when...
