Oils ; Saturated, Unsaturated and Hydrogenated.

Oils are oily, they are fats.Did you know that oils are not all bad? Some are bad, some are good and some just totally mess up your body system. Oils can be found in forms of saturated(mostly from animals), unsaturated(mostly from plants) and hydrogenated(Solidified oils formed by pumping in hydrogen molecules).
Why do we need fat?;
  • For energy.
  • For healthy new cells.
  • For healthy brain cells.
  • Helps the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.
  • Makes up our hormones
  • For healthier membranes and healthier looking skin.
  • As cushions for our vital organs(kidneys,heart)
Why don't we need the extra fats?;
  • Burdens our organs.
  • Burdens our heart.
  • Adds up on your waistline.
  • Clogs up the arteries.
  • Hardens the arteries.
  • Impair digestion processes.
  • Makes you overweight, and the excess weight eventually takes a toll on your joints.
  • Forms gall stones.
  • Triggers cancer.
  • Slows brain activity, premature aging of brain cells causes dementia.
Saturated fat is, well, saturated and too much of it causes an elevated cholesterol level in our blood. Take in moderation. Unsaturated fat are fluids comes from plants, usually comes with antioxidant and omega 3 fatty acids, in raw form, not in the heated for cooking form. Heat destroys a lot of nutrients and anything that comes with loads amount of nutrients will lose it all to heat. Hydrogenated fat is as I've mention solidified fats, usually plant oils such as margarine pumped with hydrogen molecules to make it solid, longer lasting ,tastes better and this is has no plant oil values what so ever. By altering its chemical structures, a new kind of fat is produce, we may know them by the name, trans fatty acids(TFA) and compared to all kinds of fats,this may be the worst.
TFA is a mutated kind of fat, foreign to the body digesting system and confusing it. So, when our body couldn't recognize who is this TFA, it simply pushes it aside as it has no capability to digest it, and what happens is that this TFA accumulates slowly in our body systems and in the long run diseases will spur.(It;s like plastic, not biodegradable and harms the planet, in this case it harms your body.)
Oils that comes from nuts and oily fishes(salmon,herring,mackerel,sardine) comes with omega 3 & 6 fatty acids and none of the harmful stuff, this is why consuming more fish than red meat may be a better option.
Unsaturated fats comes in two forms; polyunsaturated and monounsaturated. Polyunsaturated are found in seeds(sesame, sunflower, pumpkin), walnuts, and vegetable oils whereas monounsaturated fats are found in olives and olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, and nuts.Both can contribute to lowering our blood cholesterol level, the difference between these both is that;
  • Polyunsaturated is not meant for heating or cooking purposes.
  • Monounsaturated can be used for cooking, but please use low heat.
This fatty topic can get me confused at times, I just would like to EMPHASIZE THAT WE DO NEED FATS! Don't throw it out of your pantry just yet, what you can do is get the good fats and try to lay off the bad ones(Fast food and associates would probably give you more of the bad stuff,LOL.. is it not obvious?), anyway take a look at this table of fats for a better comprehension(hope it helps!)
