Vitamin B9(Folic acid / folate) - Vital in the first trimester of pregnancy

Vitamin B9, also known as folic acid(synthetic form) or folate(found in natural food sources). Vitamin B9 is greatly needed in the 1st trimester of pregnancy to prevent neural tube defects to the growing baby. It's highly recommended that mom in early stages of pregnancy increase the intake of Vitamin B9 to avoid any defects and for an overall healthy condition of the fetus.
 Vitamin B9 is needed for optimizing the function of Vitamin B12. It is essential for the production of red blood cells,antibodies,RNA & DNA production and essential for healing purposes. It is also necessary for cell growth and division. Like any other B group vitamins, Vitamin B9 is required in food metabolism,in this case protein metabolism. It also contributes to a healthy condition of hair and skin.
Vitamin B9 is used in treatments of anemia,circulation problems,burns,radiation injuries and atherosclerosis. It could be beneficial in protecting the heart, preventing stroke, prevents lung cancer,and benefits the colon's health.
