Vitamin D-a buddy for calcium
Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin (including vitamins A,E & K). It's a steroid vitamin which assists in assimilation of calcium, phosphorus & other minerals from the digestive tract. Without sufficient amount, calcium especially is unable to be absorbed & used by the body.
Did you know that by exposing yourself in the morning sun(7a.m.-10a.m) you body reacts with the heat to produce vitamin D,thus supplements wouldn't be so necessary. However, I don't recommend it these days as the ozone layer is exhausted with loopholes that retards it's barrier functions against harmful rays of the sun.
Vitamin D exists in various forms, D1,D2,D3,D4 & D5. The popular ones would be D2(ergocalciferol) & D3(cholecalciferol).
