Precious Pumpkin : Pumpkin Health Benefits

Since I made a recipe on pumpkin sauce(was it sauce?), I'd like to emphasize on this amazing fruit's(or is it a veggie?) magnificent values, the bright orange colors and it's sweet smelling scent brings lots of other nourishment that contributes to a healthier body constitution, so, if you have not been including Mr. Pumpkin into your diet, I assure you that you are losing out on some really good stuff, let's see what are you missing out on if your diet is absent of pumpkins:-
  • Rich in antioxidants-it's orange color comes from beta-carotene, an anti-cancer agent which also exists in other colored fruits such as carrots and tomatoes. Helps ward off free radicals and improve cell-healing.
  • Zinc and Magnesium-Boosts immunity and strengthen bone structure including teeth.
  • Prevents abnormal blood clots.
  • Potassium- Plays a role in maintaining a healthy blood pressure. Also found in avocado and bananas.
  • High in fiber-Prevents cancer, improve colon health, lowers cholesterol and improves heart function.
  • Anti-inflammatory-Benefits those with inflammation-related disorders such as arthritis.
  • Assist weight loss.
  • Contains vitamins A, B, C and E-Boost immunity and prevents colds, cough and flu.
  • Contains lutein and zeazanthin-Benefits eye health and prevents eye illnesses, including cataracts and macular degeneration.
  • Decrease the risk for lung cancer in smokers.(Ceasing the act of smoking would decrease the risks even more)
  • For healthier skin condition with a healthier glow.

I love pumpkin pie and even though I'm on the Celiac diet of no wheat gluten, I still make pumpkin pie without the crust. It is delicious!

@Kedron; sounds great, even without the crust. What matters is the pumpkin, right?
