Women's health: Rheumatiod Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis(RA) is an autoimmune disease, meaning the cause of the disease comes from the body itself. When a disease is categorized as an autoimmune, it simple means that the immune system has gone a bit confused and starts charging its soldier to attack the host cells, mistaking it as enemy.
In the case of RA, the joints are targeted leading to progressive inflammation and tissue damage. For uncertain reasons, women are are the majority with this diseases, that is why I made this a topic under women's health. Some other possible factors are hormones and genetics.
RA doesn't come in a night, just like any other chronic diseases, RA develops with time, until it's condition has become too serious to be endured, it makes itself recognizable by sending symptoms of pain and swollen joints. In some cases it could also affect surrounding organs.
A comparison between healthy joints and rheumatoid infected joints.
The possible symptoms of RA
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of appetite
  • Fever
  • Swollen joints and glands
  • Joint pain, usually felt on both sides of the body
  • Joint stiffness in the morning
  • Tenderness at affected joints
  • Chest pain upon taking breath
  • Eye itchiness and discharge
  • Nodules under the skin
  • Numbness and tingling in extremities
  • Decreased strength in muscles attached to the affected joints
It is said that women with RA have a harder time of conceiving, how true is this information I have no idea. But it's not associated with sterilization, just a much later conception, delayed.

Treating/ relieving pain naturally
As I'm not a drug-lover and would like to stay off drugs as long as I could, I'm always searching for natural remedies in treating illnesses. Here's what I found that may possibly cure a condition of RA.
Omega 3 food source

Lemongrass tea, lemon grass oil and lemongrass stalks
  1. Hydrolyzed collagen. This collagen is no ordinary collagen, being hydrolyzed, it's molecule are easier to be absorbed by the body and instantly revive the health of joints. As RA causes the joints to wear dramatically, it has lost it's collagen thus causing pain and stiffness, by providing it with a rush of collagen, it's condition may have a higher chance of curing. 2. Omega 3 fatty acids. This essential fatty acid is an anti inflammation agent and is not made by the body, you need an external source. However it does not reverse the condition of damaged tissues, it eases inflammation and pain, avoiding further damages. Get this from oily fishes including mackerel, salmon, tuna and herrings, nuts, flax seed, and fish oil capsules.
  3. Massages.
  4. Lemon grass. Eases pain and benefits menstruation processes for women. Try also its tea as a beverage and its oil for massaging.
  5. Exercise! One of the best activities for rheumatism is swimming. Aerobics count in as well. Movements are good for joint health and eliminates the pain.
Just a brief explanation and remedies. Thank you for the read. Have a wonderful afternoon people. =)
