Silent but deadly - Constipation

Image
Assalamualaikum :)  Finally! Making a comeback after many years of hiatus.  Recently, I found out that constipation is a common occurrence among many of us including children.  However it is rarely discussed or given the attention it deserves. Today, let's talk about this.  Left untreated, constipation could be the root cause of many diseases.  How? When our bowels are slow, it delays the elimination of stool/faeces ( poop ) - this may lead to accumulation of faeces in out colon. As time goes by, the faeces dump will only gets bigger ( unless the issue has been addressed and solved ) Imagine having a huge pile of poop in our colon, understand that it doesn't just lay there being innocent not releasing any substances - it is not innocent and it releases health threatening stuff back into our system.  Trapped faeces does release toxins, next it encourages the growth of bad bacteria in our colon and trigger inflammation. It does not end there, this i...

10 Simple Eating Rules

Image
How's your eating? Did you know that the way you eat may be taking the reason behind the toll on your health? Well , let's see if we are eating according to the rules. 1.Use Smaller Plates Is your plate big enough to feed the entire nation? If yes, you're breaking rule number 1 already.  The bigger plate you're having, the more food you'll be consuming , meaning the more calories you'll be adding to your waistline. Having big portions of meals at a time also slows down digestion and retards nutrient absorption. So, next time you're eating, eat to fill up that hungry stomach ,not to stuff it full like you never met food before. 2.Make half of your meals : Veggies / Fruits When you are taking 50:50 of veggies or fruits in a meal, you won't be eating much of other stuff which could possibly be the unhealthier choice. With this much of  fruits/ veggies in a meal, at least you'll be getting enough nutrients and fiber , at the same time reducing a...

The holy month of Ramadhan is actually the best time to improve your well being. it's the best time to train your inner self to embrace positivity, patience and gratitude.  It's the best time to detoxify your body systems. It is the best month we all have been waiting for. Some people are more potent towards illness in the month of Ramadhan, and they think that fasting has cause them to fall sick. No. Totally no. Fasting brings all the good things and cures many ailments, causing an illness is very unlikely. But you must remember, you are what you eat. And in the month of Ramadhan, our body is given rest from consumption for the whole day, it has become empty and ready to absorb anything that goes into it later on. This is why it is best we break our fast with nutritious food, the best choice is dates and a glass of water. As our body will instantly absorb what it is being fed. So, if you give it something deep fried or fast food you are feeding yourself toxin. Take advantage ...

Food Rules: an eater's manual

Image
I'm out of ideas on what should I write, so today I'm sharing a few vital points I've extracted from a book I recently read, a few months back(considered recent? hmm..) Okay, it's a book by Michael Pollan, titled Food Rules: an eater's manual . And the truth is, I don't even know who this guy is, never heard of him what-so-ever but I found out there are a few other books published written by him, so I'm the one out-dated, it's not him unpopular or anything. This book is quite interesting, and different from any other books I've read. It's on, well, as the title suggest, food, more precise is choosing the kind right of food and how to distinguish between what really can be classified under the label 'food' and what should be under the label 'plastic'. Though it isn't a lengthy read, I won't be sharing every single word as he wrote it, this would be a synopsis of it sort, this will be my edition of food rules, just as long ...

If this is your first visit here, you can read about YK Bee Pollen in either one of these articles:- Free radicals and supplements...> Immune system booster...> Before we move into the topic of this YK Bee Pollen, I'd like to invite you to dig a little bit into the history of 'me'.  As a kid, who knows nothing much but to pamper much of my sweet tooth's desires was a mistake, and since I really enjoyed the indulgence, the habit was brought up till I reached adolescence. Oh yeah, daily chocolate treats were no big deal for me and the toll was; toothaches! Not once..not twice..but countless of visits to the dentist finally left a scar of lesson in my head. Then I started to cut down on those sweet stuff. But other junk foods, such as crisps and fast foods were still on the list. My attention towards my health aroused when I first studied about MSG, additives, all sorts of chemicals and how they affect the body. However attentiveness wasn't enough, and I d...

Are you joining the mummies club? Or do you intend to? Then come and scroll down for a read. As a mummy myself I did some reading on pregnancy diets prior to my pregnancy, a year or so ago. I was flipping through my notes and found this dietary guideline that I had long forgotten, and upon discovering it's existence I though maybe I should share it here, just to give some ideas of a healthier consumption and what should be avoided to expecting mothers. We should all be aware that when we conceive, we need to prepare(even before you're pregnant), more than just the preparation for giving birth. There's a whole 9 months(more or less) you ought to be going through, and for that whole time being, please do try and keep yourself as well as your little fetus in the pinkest of health. It worth it. The Preggy Diet When we're carrying another(or two) living being inside of us, it's just like us. It's alive, eats and goes through metabolism and such like any normal ...

Some of us finds difficulty in achieving a healthy life-style. Who's to blame? With all the temptations of mouth-watering desserts, easy-to-prepare can and instant foods, fast foods on the go, video games over exercising, there's just so much distractions. Kids get their habits by looking at their parents, and no matter how strictly you try to mold your  child for perfection, when you overlook your own flaws they'll never be flawless as youwish they would. I'm not going into parenting tips ,just a little reminder for parents and parents-to-be out there. If you want your child to eat and grow healthily, it's easy. You eat and live healthily, they'll digest it better and follow in your lead. If you are on the call for burgers every weekend and enjoying gassy beverages in the noon, don't aspect your kid not to. Wasn't that way off the topic? My apologies, drifted by the weather I guess. Okay, back to being healthy. There are a few simple tricks that are e...

Healthy Snacks for healthier Kids

Image
I bet parents out there are worried when handing over snacks for their little ones. Too much salt, too much sugar and to much of all the bad stuff. As a parent myself, I am uncomfortable giving my child what comes from the store, many of the food items are not healthy, contains too much of weird ingredients that may be indigestible and sprouts obesity. So, I made a research (self-reading only) for healthy snacks that could be substitutes for the over-junk contained foods, that claims to contain vitamins, minerals and whatever they claim to have. No offense, but my curiosity tells me to make my own kid-friendly snacks for my kid.Try your best to start your kids early on healthy snacks and avoid junk foods, once in a while treat is okay. Go for chocolates, the dark ones the better. Take a look at what I found. 1.Cheese, milk and yogurt. These three are great snacking products, as they contain protein and calcium that is essential for children's growth and stronger bones. Cut ch...

Chocolates as Healthy Treats

Image
Who says eating chocolates are bad? They are not that evil. Good news! They are safe to eat and they benefit our health! SO, lets rejoice and eat more of the good stuff! But maybe moderation is better. When picking out for chocolates, remember, be aware, not all chocolates are therapeutic. Choose the pure chocolates, that's where the good stuff are at, the ones mixed with all sorts of preservatives and additives are surely to be sweeter yet less of nutrition. One important note; chocolates are not the cause of pimples.(Acne are the cause of bad eating habits, a constipated colon, improper facial cleansing, hormone factors and emotional imbalances) Picking the right chocolate--> Dark chocolate. At this moment, the only chocolate I know that makes a positive outcome on our health is dark chocolate. So, pick this instead of milk chocolate, as it contains more of the cocoa powder which is actually is the source of goodness. Those which comes with nougat, caramel or fillings b...
