Fasting, Detoxification & secrets of sahur

Image
This post is labeled under book review because I'm sharing some points I took from an interesting book that I've read, however this is only a partial review of the book as I am only sharing the points of fasting, detox and sahur (Due to the upcoming Ramadhan),  InsyaAllah if given the chance I'll cover on other topics in this book. This is the book: Quran saintifik (Scientific Quran) by Dr. Danial Zainal Abidin. A worthy book to read, revealing much of The Quran's wonders that probably are unknown to the majority of Muslims, including me. It's in malay, I've no idea if it comes in an english edition, anyway for all malays if you're looking for a good book to read, try this. The Blessings of Fasting Fasting is one of the five 'pillars of Islam'. The other four are;- Faith or belief in the Oneness of God and the finality of the prophethood of Muhammad. Establishment of the daily prayers. Concern for and almsgiving to the needy. The pilgrimag...

Ramadhan Fasting-The perfect time for cleansing & healing

Image
As Ramadhan is approaching, I think it's fair enough that I write an article on fasting as it is the month Muslims have been waiting for. Every year, Muslims fasts for the whole month of Ramadhan, depends,it can either be 29 days or 30 days, exception is permitted for those who falls under several circumstances. Fasting means to abstain one self [1] from all kinds of temptations and to be patient dealing with it through out the month of Ramadhan, every day from the break of dawn until sunset, in between sunset and the next dawn, these prohibitions are not applicable, for Allah S.W.T, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful surely knows that we humans can't restrain ourselves for a much longer duration . The temptations I mentioned includes drinking, eating, smoking, intercourse, emotions(anger, etc..) and whatever that may pollute the state of fast, as when we are fasting, we are meant to be calm and sensible. Fasting is a shield [2] .The month is Ramadhan serves a purpose, it is to...

Challenged by Calamities

Image
Life is not bland. And it will never be. We are due for adventures, joy, sorrow, hardship and lots more of the unexpected. We may put effort in building our dreams and shaping our future but things really are, not within our means. We can try, however, whatever the consequences that may arise should be accepted with an open heart, when we don't this is when our emotions take control. Everyone will face a moment struggle, and it's really just a tiny matter, unless we let it become big. Bear in mind that you are not the only one dealing with difficulties and challenges, everyone has to go through it and some have even worse agendas on their list. Don't make a fuss over small matters. Problems do have resolutions and hardship are meant to strengthen our souls. Emotions aren't great leaders, and at times of heart aches or faced with calamities, it maneuvers terribly. And allowing it to guide you, seems far from wisdom. What are considered challenges? Anger Hatred Jea...

With fever comes all sorts of discomforts, this is probably it is looked bad upon, what most of us don't know is, fever is really, what can be labeled as 'blessing that comes in disguise'. Yes, it is and as intelligent human beings we should never, ever, not once judge a book without even taking a peek into the first chapter. And same goes for dear fever, blatant accusations won't bring it down, it just messes you up. So, get to know it, understand it and be thankful, for you are down with a fever. Act of Gratitude: What most of us are Lacking

Image
In ignorance, not many of us are aware how vital gratitude is, thus we ignore to acknowledge it, and as time passes on, we fall deeper and deeper into a deep hollow well where 'being thankful' becomes a stranger to us. I bet most of us are taught to feel grateful in life, to accept whatever happens and to live through challenges and obstacles. But, why nowadays, it seems that gratefulness is thinning  from our souls? Why do we forget to say ' Alhamdulillah" upon walloping a a triple-cheese burger for lunch. And do we even realize that with every single breath that we take, it's beyond our capacity. So, learn to be grateful. It's more than just thankfulness. I bet in most religion, it preaches towards feeling thankful and blessed at all times, however since I am a Muslim, I will be concentrating in my own religion. In Islam, the act of gratitude is also known as ' Syukur ', the opposite of that is ' kufr '. It is said that faith consists of two...
