Olive oil for skin health

Image
Assalamualaikum :) I apologize for not being active with blogging lately. But i do still love to write, when I have some bit of time I'll hook up in here.. Today , I'd like to share my very own experience with olive oil. Olive oil is known for it's health boosting benefits, yes we all know but it's exciting when we experience it ourselves. Well at least I'm excited about it heh :) The truth is, I've been using olive oil on various body parts. But I like to share about it one topic at a time :) inshaAllah easier for readers comprehension. Most of us ladies, I assume have some sort of daily regime for facial care. As for me , I don't have any except for normal cleansing using facial cleanser. That is it. Seriously. Recently a friend of mine recommended a night cream she is happy with (probably my face looks deprived of nutrition, ha..) , Okay so I thought why not just give it a try, I did have flaws anyway. So I did. Using this particular brand of ni...

Licorice & skin health

Image
What's your first thought when you read the word 'licorice'? For me, all I can think of is this.... (yumm..yumm..) : Okay, so I am a big fan of these licorice treats, and all I can relate to licorice is this, but I'm absolutely in the wrong, because there is the licorice plant that is more than a bunch of sweet stuff. Here's what it looks like.. (and it's what I'll be writing about, not the deliciously looking , drool catalysts as we have seen above..).. R-L: The root, the plant, again, the root. This is the licorice plant and it's root. Now that we know that such thing exists, let's learn it's benefits, and in this particular post, I'm going to emphasize on it's values for the skin. It turns out that licorice roots has been used in traditional medication for ages in the case of diabetes, digestive disorders, eczema, psoriasis, coughs and much more. Today, licorice extracts are used in ointments and gels for the following purpose:...

VCare Foaming Dew: Product review

Image
I mentioned this wonderful product before, you can check out about it in this article....> Anyway, I'll explain about it once more, here, in this current post I'm writing. This specially formulated facial cleanser is awesome! As I've been using it for the past few weeks, and honestly I'm satisfied with the outcome. My skin does feel smoother, softer and pimples? they're saying ta-ta. Waiting for more great results from this Vcare foaming dew. My first wash was already so mesmerizing, the scent of the VCare foaming dew drifts me off my feet, it smells sooo good! no kidding. (As Anthony Bourdain would put it: "I wish we have smell-O-vision to share the smells..haha, but he was talking about food, what else would he talk about..)  And you don't have to use too much of it, just a tiny squeeze of it, mix with water to expand it's mass and just do the cleansing stuff on your neck and face, believe me, the smell, exquisitely relaxing- had to go italic ...

Beauty Skin Tips: Exfoliating

Image
Exfoliate your skin. What is exfoliating? It means to remove the layers of dead skin on our skin's surface. Every minute thousands of skin cells are dying and shedding off, but because they are minute we don't even realize it, as new skin cells are always regenerating to cover up on the dying ones, we will never notice that our skin is 24 hours falling off and being replaced. The most hard working cell to produce new skin cells is the epidermis, the first layer of skin that also has to endure sun ray, polluted air, all the wears and tears and chemicals is you did applied chemically-based ointments or whatever. Look at your skin, has it been taken care of, after all these years it endured the cold wind and scorching heat? Our skin does, naturally exfoliate itself, the new growing cells will push out the dead cells away and make it fall off, however as we age and due to many other factors(Premature aging, free radicals, fad diet,etc..) its ability is decreased, hence our skin c...

Green Health : Aloe Vera - The Plant That Heals

Image
This is Aloe Vera. I think most of us are familiar with this plant. It grows all over the place, at least I know it does here, in Malaysia. When I met aloe vera for the first time(I was just a little girl then) I thought the plant was poisonous, with spikes and all. Later I found out it was widely used for skin problems. And the next thing I know, aloe vera juices were starting to appear in the market. This stuff has got to be good, since it's now a beverage, even it does not look appealing(to me). Well, but you can never judge a book by its cover. This plant offers tremendous benefits that we may have not noticed, this is proven when it's growing right in your backyard and is neglected. So,lets learn about this Aloe Vera and maybe we should start to appreciate its benefits. Here is what Aloe Vera has to offer: Skin care! Aloe vera works well for burns, scars, cuts, and all sort of skin lesions ( I don't guarantee it 100%). It is said to hasten wound healing effectively and coo...

Baby's health; From itchy rash to healthy pinkish skin.

Image
Rashes and skin inflammations are common among newborns. But this is no reason for parents to ignore any skin conditions that affects their little baby. Sometimes it could lead to serious complications. Some of the rashes are harmless and fades gradually but some are not. So,once you notice the appearance of any sorts of rash on your child, take action to treat it, if it gets better then it's fine, if it doesn't or if it worsen, help is probably needed. There are some perspective don't recommend too much of western medical attention to minor baby illnesses as the effect of drugs may blunt their developing immune system and could cause a weak body constituent later in life. Here's a story about Mrs. Alia. She is very pregnant with her due date just around the corner. This would be her first child, she is very excited yet anxious at the same time. During her pregnancy she took supplements and additional vitamins but her diet had no improvisation compared to when she had no...

Vitamin E - Offering more than just antioxidants

Image
Vitamin E is known for its anti-aging factor. Just like Vitamin C,it is a powerful antioxidant that retards aging, thus promotes an anti-aging quality. Have you noticed? People these days are going on the hunt for anti-aging products. Are they scared of getting old? If you do want to grow old gracefully,it's not just about scoffing on Vitamins E or C,per se, it's more on how you lead your life. A poorly managed stressful life would wear your body down hastily even if you did took vitamin E supplements on a daily basis. Vitamins, all plays a vital role but remember everything, in every perspective needs attention, the whole system works in a synergistic manner. Imagine a brand new car, without fuel, would it run? Or would it be possible for an ignition to occur with a tank filled superfluously yet the engine has rotten? Answer for yourself. Okay, done with the lecture. Moving on with the main topic.Star of the day; Vitamin E. It is a fat soluble vitamin, therefore it is found in ...

Vitamin D-a buddy for calcium

Image
Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin (including vitamins A,E & K). It's a steroid vitamin which assists in assimilation of calcium, phosphorus & other minerals from the digestive tract. Without sufficient amount, calcium especially is unable to be absorbed & used by the body. Did you know that by exposing yourself in the morning sun(7a.m.-10a.m) you body reacts with the heat to produce vitamin D,thus supplements wouldn't be so necessary. However, I don't recommend it these days as the ozone layer is exhausted with loopholes that retards it's barrier functions against harmful rays of the sun. Vitamin D exists in various forms, D1,D2,D3,D4 & D5. The popular ones would be D2(ergocalciferol) & D3(cholecalciferol). Here are some other Vitamin D facts that benefits our well-being:- Regulates calcium level in blood. For proper formation of teeth & bones. Prevents tooth decay. Prevents rickets & pyorrhea. Regulates the immune system. For hea...

Vitamin C(ascorbic acid) - From healthy gums to healthy organs

Image
Vitamin C plays a big role in our body, obtained through food & unfortunately isn't stored in the body. So, you must take daily meals containing vitamin C, if you appreciate its benefits that is. Recently, Vitamin C is associated with anti-wrinkles programs. How far is the truth? Well, the fact is that it can reduce or prevent wrinkles formation due to its antioxidant properties which fights off the premature aging factor, free radicals and its capability to produce collagen in the body, which is essential for healthy tissue repair and regeneration not only in the skin but in the joints, muscles, blood vessels, cartilage and elsewhere in the body. But wait, the injection type doesn't serve the body as well as natural food sources. Eat your food well to get the nutrients, synthetic vitamins would probably place your health in danger, even the effects may seem marvelous in the short term, the side effects could possibly be irreversible. What more does vitamin C has to offer:-...

Pamper your skin Day & Night

Image
Day and night are two different phases of degrees. The present sun is now hotter then ever, can you feel the heat? Under the hot, scorching sun, we tend to get dehydrated inside and outside, thus we get thirsty and get ourselves something to drink. What do you do when your skin gets dried up and thirsty? Drinking water provides solution for your internals but the skin is directly exposed on the outside, resulting in rapid loss of moisture, you need more than just water consumption to protect your skin from the UV rays(ultra violet rays) and keep it well moisturized to maintain its radiance and wellness. Why do we need to be protected from the UV rays? It's not just about a heated discomfort, it brings danger to our skin. The most obvious result from exposure to the sun is tanned skin. Why does the skin gets a tan anyway? Because it's burned, it deteriorates the skin's well-being leading to wrinkles, damaged skin tissues, and it is a major factor in skin cancer. This is why ...

Caring for the skin - more than just skin deep

Image
Our skin is waterproof and acts as a protection against microorganism, the weather and whatever that comes in contact with it. Don't we all desire for a flawless, smooth and radiant skin? Especially when facial is concerned. Unfortunately not everyone has perfect skin. But it's not impossible to obtain a healthy ,blemish-free and pinkish glowing complexion. Just put in some effort before you can gain the amazing results you've been yearning for.  As you can see, the skin is made up of several layers, deep under the skin lies the sebaceous gland. This particular gland secretes oil and without proper cleansing skin will appear oily, trapping dust and dirt in pores of skin, thus sprouting pimples. Adolescence is usually the time when our skin becomes sensitive, its caused by an overactive gland secretions, the more oil comes out the higher chances of zits to appear. Other contributing factors to skin deterioration are oxidation(pigmentation), stress(dryness), UV rays(wrinkles...
