Dealing with Morning Sickness

Image
You're pregnant. Alhamdulillah .Great news. Congratulations!  However, the joy of conceiving is sometimes blunted by the existence of morning sickness. Don't be fooled by it's name, it may only be felt in the morning, or be at it's worst in the morning but for some it does linger through out the day, so expect this. An empty stomach could be a possible cause for a worsen morning sickness in the morning. My personal experience, delaying breakfast does makes things worse. Due to hormonal, physical & other changes occurring in the body, most pregnant women experience some discomfort. It varies in each individual. Some may not even feel a pinch, some may have a slight headache, and some may even vomit for days with an on going nausea. This usually goes on about 3-4months after conceiving, but there are some cases that lasts for the whole 9 months of pregnancy. Tiring, I bet. Not to worry though, there are some few useful tips you can try to make yourself fell bette...

Pregnancy recipe : Simple Steamed Fish

Image
Here's a simple recipe I'd like to share. It's not meant specifically for pregnant ladies, but since pregnant women's throat may not accept a lot of spicy dishes(my experience)..steamed & soups go the other way round,  it usually gets down pretty well. And fish tastes great when steamed .I can't tolerate the taste of poultry much when I'm conceiving, so I go for fishes and Alhamdulillah , it tastes better than ever. Ingredients: Fish (You could use either barammundi @ seabass ( siakap ) , black/white pomfret ( bawal ). Here I'd be using seabass. 1 big onion ~ finely sliced 1 turmeric root (thumb sized) ~ finely chopped 1 thumb-sized ginger~ finely chopped 3 cloves of garlic~ finely chopped Few strands of spring onions~ chopped coarsely Few  pinches of salt & pepper  **You could add sliced chili, but in this recipe I am not using any as I don't fancy the taste** Method: Prepare the steamer, add water, bring to boil. Put the fish onto a ...

First Trimester- The Vital Beggining

Image
Hi all. Assalamualaikum ! It's been a while since I last posted on my blog. About a month or so, apologies. Life's got me all around the world but here. So, anyway, today I'll be writing briefly on the 1st trimester of pregnancy (just because a lot of people around me are, will and have been giving birth , also I might join them for another round or two... InsyaAllah ). If you're pregnant , congratulations! The first trimester refers to the first three months of pregnancy, in these early stages, pregnant women usually experience some discomfort which differs between individuals , at least there's a sign you've conceived. Some may not experience it , but for those who do, there's always a blessing in disguise. As the first trimester is the most vital time we should nourish ourselves as this is the time the baby inside us are in the need for most nutrition to build a strong and healthy body. Signs of a possible pregnancy Missed period Nausea & vomit...

Coconut Water- Love the taste, Love the Health Benefits.

Image
When I was a little girl, I used to go back to my grandparents place for the holidays. They lived in the village and was surrounded by many plants and trees which were a delightful sight, as we don't see much of those in the middle of KL. Among those trees stood tall palms, some were tilted some were straight, it's coconuts! (Cocos nucifera) Yeah! My grandfather would gather up young coconuts and holes on top of the fruit to pour out its water, once the water is all out we would continue with the process of scooping out its flesh for further consumption. Ah, yummy~ Now that I've unearthed it's benefits, I have more reasons to consume even more of its water, and just to let you know, that, you should probably do the same. Health Benefits of Coconut Water Low in carbohydrate & sugar. Cools the body to maintain a balanced body temperature. Hydrates the body-a natural isotonic water (replenish nutrients effectively after an exercise regime) , beats gaseous isoto...

Oprah : reading to your unborn baby

Image
Why is Oprah's name up there? Just because I kind of borrowed this info from Oprah.com , where I go for visits now and then to scoop up valuable knowledge. So, today I found out about reading to an unborn child, and I think it's an interesting  point that may have been neglected by many preggy mommies out there,so I though I'd share it. (These questions are answered by Dr. Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen) The situation: Does the unborn child hears anything from the outside? When we read or talk to him, does it affects the baby significantly?  A: Don't be surprised but they do, loud, ear-banging stereos are surely to be heard, other sorts of sounds that seeps through bones ans tissues are also being heard by them. By the 24th week they are able to recognize their mother's voice and it's what make it calm. Pregnant mothers are strongly advice to talk to their growing child as this helps to enhance it's mental/ brain developments and kick starts the baby's...

Here comes nourishment : revealing the benefits of Yung Kien Bee Pollen

Image
If this is your first visit here, you can read about YK Bee Pollen in either one of these articles:- Free radicals and supplements...> Immune system booster...> Before we move into the topic of this YK Bee Pollen, I'd like to invite you to dig a little bit into the history of 'me'.  As a kid, who knows nothing much but to pamper much of my sweet tooth's desires was a mistake, and since I really enjoyed the indulgence, the habit was brought up till I reached adolescence. Oh yeah, daily chocolate treats were no big deal for me and the toll was; toothaches! Not once..not twice..but countless of visits to the dentist finally left a scar of lesson in my head. Then I started to cut down on those sweet stuff. But other junk foods, such as crisps and fast foods were still on the list. My attention towards my health aroused when I first studied about MSG, additives, all sorts of chemicals and how they affect the body. However attentiveness wasn't enough, and I d...

Pregnancy Dietary Guide, eat this...not that!

Image
Are you joining the mummies club? Or do you intend to? Then come and scroll down for a read. As a mummy myself I did some reading on pregnancy diets prior to my pregnancy, a year or so ago. I was flipping through my notes and found this dietary guideline that I had long forgotten, and upon discovering it's existence I though maybe I should share it here, just to give some ideas of a healthier consumption and what should be avoided to expecting mothers. We should all be aware that when we conceive, we need to prepare(even before you're pregnant), more than just the preparation for giving birth. There's a whole 9 months(more or less) you ought to be going through, and for that whole time being, please do try and keep yourself as well as your little fetus in the pinkest of health. It worth it. The Preggy Diet When we're carrying another(or two) living being inside of us, it's just like us. It's alive, eats and goes through metabolism and such like any normal ...
